A MaintScape work order's life cycle is defined by its status change history. For example, a work order created from a maintenance schedule starts off as status "scheduled". The work order is changed to status "open" when the work is due, and when complete, changed to status "closed". MaintScape records the date of all status changes, and who did them.

The "Today's Status" window gives you a snapshot of what is going on in MaintScape today.

More specifically, the "Today's Status" window displays a list of MaintScape statistics by category. The different categories are displayed on the various tab pages of the window.

Double-clicking any statistics line will open a window to show you all the records making up that statistic. For example: double clicking on the work order query, "Overdue: active and due 1 week prior to today or earlier", will show you a list of the 7 work orders.

The set of statistics displayed on the "Important" tab page are for any type of MaintScape business object. For example, the sample screen print shows you statistics for Maintenance Schedules, Service Requests, and Work Orders at the same time. Other tab pages, such as "Work Order", show you statistics on your work orders only. The "Important" tab page is intended to show you the most important MaintScape statistics that you want to see at a single glance.

The "Age" field in the window toolbar tells you how many minutes have elapsed since the statistics were computed. You can use this to decide when to refresh the screen, which re-computes the statistics.

The "Today's Status" window is completely customizable in that you choose what statistics are displayed for each category. The set show in the sample screen print, and the sample screen prints for other tab pages, are only an example.

Specifically, each statistic is a query constructed in MaintScape and stored in a MaintScape Collection. The collection for the sample screen print is identified by the "Collection of Queries" field: file "summary_dflt.mscpc".

Please click the tabs at the top of the sample screen print to see other "Today's Status" tab pages, and therefore other "Today's Status" categories. For example, you can click on tab "Work Order", "Service Request", etc.
