Technical Documents
A MaintScape work order's life cycle is defined by its status change history. For example, a work order created from a maintenance schedule starts off as status "scheduled". The work order is changed to status "open" when the work is due, and when complete, changed to status "closed". MaintScape records the date of all status changes, and who did them.

Connecting to the MaintScape Database using Microsoft Access

You can create custom reports by connecting a third party reporting tool to the MaintScape database. Connections are made using ODBC which is supported by all major reporting tools. This document describes how to make the connection using Microsoft Access.

You need to understand the MaintScape database structure in order to create effective custom reports. Full database structure documentation is accessed within MaintScape itself by clicking the "Inquiry and Reports" main menu icon, then selecting option "Database Structure Reports" (you can find samples on our Key Technical Facts web page). GrandRavine Software can help you write database queries to drive your custom reports.
