A MaintScape work order's life cycle is defined by its status change history. For example, a work order created from a maintenance schedule starts off as status "scheduled". The work order is changed to status "open" when the work is due, and when complete, changed to status "closed". MaintScape records the date of all status changes, and who did them.

Multi-Site

The MaintScape multi-site optional module lets separate locations (such as plants) within your company or organization share the same MaintScape database.

Some data is partitioned between sites - for example: equipment and work orders. Other data is shared between sites - for example: parts, code tables, and procedures. Therefore you get both data privacy and consistency where appropriate.

The MaintScape screen at right shows the configured sites. Note that the number of available sites is part of your MaintScape license.

You will find more overview information below, however please see our Multi-Site Module documentation for full details.

Site partitioning is primarily done within MaintScape Explorer. In the screen print on the left, you can see that there are high-level locations for the Elmira, Keyser and Weston plants. You can also see that the Elmira and Keyser plants have parts storerooms.

Any equipment at location "Keyser" or any of its sub-locations are considered to be at the "Keyser" plant. All work orders for equipment at the Keyser plant are considered to be at the Keyser plant as well.

Similarly, any parts inventory at stock room "SR2" or any of its sub-locations are considered to be at the "Elmira" plant.

Staff in your company or organization are assigned to a "Local Site". You can see in the sample screen print that John Blake's local site is the Keyser plant.

John Blake is granted logon access to MaintScape at security level "Level 3" (click here for more information on staff records, and here for more information on setting staff up as MaintScape users).

Further, John Blake is granted "Active" access to data at his local site (Keyser Plant), and "View" access to data at other sites - except for the "Weston Plant" where he is also granted active access. "Active access" means John Blake can modify data at the site, subject to permissions granted by his security level "Level 3".

The third access level after "Access" and "View" is "No Access", which means the MaintScape user cannot see or operate on data at a particular site.

Finally, if John Blake has "Active" access to sites "Keyser" and "Weston", he can indicate at logon that he only wants active access to "Keyser" for the duration of his MaintScape session.
